Every Class 12 student has a dream: to enter a reputed college or university, complete their studies, and find a high-paying job. To achieve this goal, they need to fill the CUET UG form.
But several questions arise: Does everything get settled after filling out the form? What steps should students take to get into a better college or university? What is the exam pattern?

Explaining CUET UG: A Simple Definition
CUET UG stands for Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduate courses. National Testing Agency (NTA) is the main government authority that conducts it.
The main focus of this examination is to have a common platform for admission to undergraduate programmes in Central Universities and other participating universities and institutions.
Note: NTA only performs CUET UG’s registration, test, prepare answer keys, process results, and share the results. The actual work, i.e., generating a merit list, conducting counselling sessions, and preparing final admission are managed by the universities. Therefore, students need to meet the eligibility of the universities also.
CUET UG 2026 Important Dates
The CUET UG 2026 application window opened from 3rd January to 30th January 2026. However, it was later extended to 4th February 2026. The correction window opened from 9th to 11th February 2026.
Regarding the CUET UG examination, it will be held tentatively from 11th to 31st May 2026. The mode will be Computer Based Test (CBT).

Eligibility Criteria for CUET UG 2026
As of now, there is no age limit to appear in the CUET UG examination. This means that students who have already passed class 12th or an equivalent exam can appear in this test.
Below is the list of kinds of qualifying examinations accepted by the authority:
Regular 10+2 system
Intermediate or Pre-University exams
NIOS Senior Secondary
Certain vocational qualifications
3-year AICTE or state-board diplomas
GCE A-Level
International Baccalaureate Diploma.
Note: Candidates who passed Class 12 outside India or from a board not specifically listed must produce an equivalence certificate as required in the bulletin.
Subjects Selection by a Student
As per the guidelines, students can choose up to 5 subjects in total, including languages and the General Aptitude Test.
Note: Students can select those subjects also which they haven’t studied in class 12th. However, use this option wisely.
CUET UG 2026 Exam Pattern
In the CUET UG exam, there are a total of 37 subjects available, which consist of 13 languages, 23 domain subjects, and 1 General Aptitude Test. There will be 50 compulsory questions which need to be answered in 60 minutes.
Note: For disabled students who are eligible for a scribe, the NTA provides compensatory time of at least 20 minutes per hour of examination.
Marking Scheme of CUET UG
The marking scheme is +5 for each correct answer and -1 for each incorrect answer. The question paper pattern is objective type MCQs.
Language of the CUET UG’s Paper
CUET UG provides an option of 13 Indian languages which a candidate can select to receive the question paper. These are:

However, the question paper will appear in English (compulsory) along with the language chosen by the candidate.

Highlighting CUET UG 2026 Syllabus
NTA says the syllabus is:
Language papers: reading comprehension, literary aptitude, vocabulary
Domain subjects: based on the NCERT syllabus
General Aptitude Test: general knowledge, current affairs, general mental ability, numerical ability, quantitative reasoning, logical and analytical reasoning.
Admit card and Exam-day Instructions
Candidates should check the NTA website thoroughly to download their admit card.
Visit the assigned examination center on time with the official admit card.
Carry the print copy of the admit card with self-declaration, one passport-size photograph, a valid original photo ID, and a simple transparent ball-point pen.
